I have wanted to write a novel for years and never got around to putting anything on paper. One of my friends at church challenged me to join her in National Novel Writing Month in November. Slowly a group starting forming at church and we met for our first session on Sunday. I wrote over 1,600 words. I know that is not much, but it is a big improvement over zero! The goal is to write 50,000 words this month. That won't be a complete adult novel, but it is a start.
It is fun to hear the different ideas for novels and encourage one another. And surprisingly we actually got work done.

- I was born and raised in Washington State. In September 1970 I gave my life to Jesus Christ. I attended business school and then law school at the Universtiy of Washington in Seattle. While in college I was active as a student with Campus Crusade on the UW campus. From 1978 to 1984 I served as a lawyer in the Navy JAG Corps in various locations around the world: the Philippines, Washington D.C., and USS HUNLEY (AS 31) in Holy Loch, Scotland. I returned home in 1984 and practiced law for about 10 years, mostly doing criminal defense work. In 1995 I left my law practice to go to seminary. I received a Bible Certificate from Multnomah Bibical Seminary in 1996 and a Master of Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary in 1999. Now I am on staff with Campus Crusade for Christ, serving Jesus in Latin America and other parts of the world! I love to travel and getting to know people from different cultures.

As of November 24, I am just over 14,000 words. That is far from my goal but much farther than if I hadn't started. I hope to write a lot over Thanksgiving weekend. Have a blessed Thanksgiving!
